Logo-finalMonthly Meeting
Our monthly meeting is usually held the first Tuesday of the month at the Marriott in the Marina.  The meeting starts at 11:00 and everyone is invited! Next Meeting: December 1st

Good morning fellow Navy League members and friends

The week just got busier! On top of today’s “Remembrance Day” celebration at 11am at Lazaro Cardenas Park, and tomorrow nights “Autumn Fest” at 5:30 pm at Coco Tropical Restaurant in Olas Altas, we are being paid a port visit by the Coast Guard Cutter Alert. The ship arrives Thursday morning around 8am and will be with us for 3 days. A number of activities have been planned over this 3 day period, most of which are open to NL membership.
First of all a little background info re the Alert (WMEC 630). The name might sound familiar to you, as this Cutter has visited PV many times over the past 20 years. It’s home-ported in Warranton, Oregon, and has a complement of 77 officers and crew. It’s 210 ft long, and displaces 1,000 tons. Their mission is many fold, including Search and Rescue, port security, drug interdiction, and more.
While in port here, they have volunteered to conduct 3 separate Community Relations Projects (COMREL). These projects will be performed on Thursday immediately after arrival. If you’d like to participate, and we hope many of you do, please be at the pier near Gate 17 across from Liverpool and Sams by 9:00 am. You’ll need to advise Dennis Rike (dennis2rike@hotmail.com) by no later than 2pm today so that you’ll be permitted to access the pier. Dress is of course casual. After the COMRELs, the crew will be treated to lunch to which you’re also invited, with each NL’er paying their own way.
On Friday night we’ll be hosting the Officers and Crew to a reception at Murphy’s Irish Pub on the Malecon. Cost per Navy Leaguer is only 200 ps. This includes local beer and an Irish/Mexican buffet. The reception will run 6-8 pm. Dress here too is casual. Let’s welcome these fine young men and women to our beautiful and friendly city!
I also hope to see all of you at the Autumn Fest on Thursday night at Coco Tropical restaurant from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Net proceeds will benefit the Community Relations Projects as for the Alert this week.
And don’t forget the major fundraisers in early December benefiting our flagship program, Toys for Tots. Bring your family and friends. Great fun for a great cause. Call or write me for details.

See you all soon, Jerry
